- Is Flashcart free to use?
- Yes. Flashcart is free to use and needs no credit card. It runs on free-tier infrastructure end to end, and every new account starts with a ready-made German starter deck.
- What is the Leitner system?
- The Leitner system is a spaced-repetition method that sorts flashcards into boxes. A card you answer correctly moves up a box and comes back later; a card you get wrong drops to the first box and comes back soon. Flashcart uses five boxes with intervals from four hours up to three weeks, and additionally shortens the interval when the AI tutor detects that you struggled with an answer.
- How is Flashcart different from other German flashcard apps?
- Most flashcard apps ask you to grade yourself, which makes recognising a word feel like knowing it. Flashcart makes you type the German yourself, and an AI tutor grades what you wrote on meaning and grammar rather than matching strings. It accepts valid German variation, names the specific mistake — word order, case, article choice — and explains the rule.
- Can I make German flashcards from my own notes?
- Yes. You can connect your Notion workspace and choose which pages to import. Flashcart reads those notes and turns them into structured flashcards grouped by grammar topic, so you do not have to author cards by hand. Re-syncing skips unchanged pages, so your deck grows as your notes grow.
- What German level is Flashcart for?
- Flashcart is aimed at intermediate learners around A2 to B2 — people who can read German reasonably well but freeze when they have to produce it themselves. It is built to close that gap between recognition and production.
